two days ago, my boyfriend and i had an argument because he asked me if it was ok to meet other people while still maintaining the relationship with me. he's 18 and a marine in florida for MOS and i'm 17 and still a junior in high school. we've been dating for a year and half, and he was my first and I was his first as well. basically the result ended in him deleting his myspace because he "didn't like the url and email it was under" sooo, yesterday he made another email, and i thought to myself how funny it would be if he had made another myspace... well he did, and had basically everything filled out, but his status remained "single". i confronted him about it, and he said he "forgot" [bs!] but then admitted that he did it on purpose because he didn't care and because it would give me the advantage. what was the supposed to mean? I had a simliar experience, what you gotta do is talk to your man. You have to explain to him what you are feeling, and if he still disrespects that, he better get his **** together soon. I know what you mean about it being funny watching parents try to deal with technology. When my mom was learning to use a computer, she would roll the mouse all the way across the desk and even down the side of it until she figured out how to use it on the pad. That said, while it is a little bit funny, just be nice and show her how to delete it. Like you said, you can just make another one, and maybe she will trust you a little more if you help her out on this. Plus, if your mom is anything like mine, she will not give up or stop bugging you until it is done, so you might as well save yourself the grief.

Everybody always looks at me funny when I say I'm gonna meet someone on myspace. First off, I don't go alone, second, i have a registerd gun if anything crazy happens %26amp; thirdly, we meet in a mutual setting that is well lit where there are alot of people around. I don't see what the difference is from me seeing someone i like on myspace that i want to personally meet than if i see a guy i like in a club or at the mall or at the library or wherever. Why do people think your crazy when you even say i met this person on myspace or even dating websites.

All those people online (including me and everyone reading this) also exist in the offline world...and there are people offline who don't go online much. Any of them could be kooky and dangerous.
If you are an adult, are using (un)common sense, meeting in a public place, not giving out your home address initially, not sharing a ride with that person to another location, etc, then I see no issue.
I've met people from the 'net for years (offline) and have had no scary/dangerous experiences. I've made some of the best friends I've ever had, had some interesting dates, and met a few people I didn't 'click' with, but that's all. There's just as much chance of me meeting someone who wishes to do me ill at any time, whether they use the internet or not.

I would be really interested to see a comparative study of which really has more trouble attached to it, dating relationship where the couples met online, vs. meeting at a bar, vs. meeting in other forms, leaving out the underage issue re myspace which wouldn't likely be applying to the bar scene (if someone is looking for a teenager, the local singles bar would obviously be a poor place to try). My guess is once comparing apples to apples, the numbers are probably not much different.
It can be good or bad. You just have to be very careful when you meet people online. Take all necessary precautions if you really feel it is someone you MUST meet. Be sure that not only you take someone with you, but that other people know where you are going. I definitely would be sure that the two of you have corresponded and/or spoken on the phone for several months before putting yourself out there. Take every precaution available to you.
